comments: Fredrik is one of the most promising young soccerplayers of the world, and he keeps getting better. The fans of his club, Arsenal, voted him "Most Valuable player of the month" two times this year (January and February) and he has also recieved the prestigeous award "Best Swedish Athlete" in 1998, an honor that made him very proud.
Fredrik says that he hates to be alone, and he spends a lot of time with his friends going to the movies and restaurants rather than staying in his flat watching TV. The only television show he really likes is "Friends". He lives in Hampstead where other stars like Sting, Mel C and George Michael lives. He likes it, and says that Hampstead is cosy and a bit like Spain with all the nice restaurants and cafes. He says that he is not easy to get close to since he has a hard time opening up to people that he doesn't know. Through his interest in fashion he has developed his own style; he looks like a popstar. He drives a silvery BMW. Fredrik has a younger brother, (Filip age 18) who is another promising soccer talent. They look almost exactly alike, says Fredrik.
On the soccerfield Fredrik can be very emotional and he plays fast and is very creative. The opposing team never knows quite what he might do. He is good with the ball and he can score marvelous goals with both feet, that is quite unusual.
He was recently involved in a "sexscandal". In an interview for a Swedish magazine the reporter asked him if he has sex the night before a game, and he said no, since it makes his feet "heavy". The next day magazines all over Europe had headlines like "Freddie the sexguru".
Fredrik has been injured some time this year but has made a great comeback.What many people might not know is that Fredrik suffers from serious migraine attacks about once a year. He becomes temporarily blind and vomits. On some occations he has been forced to go to hospital by ambulance. He has been getting the attacks since he was fourteen and since the doctors can't do anything to make it stop, he just has to lie down until the medicine he always has with him works and the symptoms pass.
There is not much else that can stop him from playing soccer; it is what he loves to do. When he was younger and unknown he dreamt of playing for Sweden in the World Championships. He watched every game in front of the TV, fully dressed in his soccergear. Fredrik is a great guy (says his teammates and coaches) but he has one big problem: he is always late! Fredrik scored a goal against Manchester less than six minutes into his Arsenal debut, making the audience chant "Freddie, Freddie". It was definately not the last time we heard that jingle!!!
