The couple was spotted recently at Double Bay in Sydney, walking down the street holding hands. Daniel's battles: depression and anorexia
After the success of Freakshow, silverchair's second album, Daniel began suffering from depression and anorexia, withdrawing from both friends and family. Daniel got counseling and is on the road to recovery. "Ana's Song (open fire)" on Neon Ballroom is Daniel's song about his fight with anorexia. Some critics have been quite harsh in their criticism of the song, saying that Daniel was exploiting his problems. We think this misses the point entirely. Writes Adopt-a-Star team member, Mary: "silverchair is connecting with a lot of people on this album, meaningful lyrics are what this generation wants. So deal dudes! silverchair is here to stay!" Daniel wrote about his battle in the November 1999 issue of Teen People. Latest report is that he's slowly getting over his anorexia, aiming this year to get off the anti-depressants.
trivia: Daniel has asthma; he is a vegan (due largely, he says, because he father had a collie that he loved very much); once dyed his hair pink; played trumpet when he was little; was in the Boy Scouts; he is an active animal rights campaigner; his brother, Heath, recently became a vegetarian also; Daniel once had braces, but felt they were useless
worst concert mishap: while playing a show at Santa Monica pier, Daniel was hit by a bottle and rushed to the hospital after finishing the song. He needed three stiches above his left eyebrow.
