comments: Christian Slater has grown from an exciting and talented young male star into an exciting and talented leading man. Seeming to be an actor who always choses his roles carefully, he's shown up in some of the most definitive films of 90's, like Heathers, The Name of the Rose, Pump Up the Volume and True Romance. It's a tribute to a fine actor, who's meticulously developed his craft. His minor scrapes (some wouldn't call them minor) with the law in his youth have done nothing to way lay his burgeoning career. And even though he earned everyone's respect with his insistence on donating his fees for his work on Interview with the Vampire to charity (in honor of the late River Phoenix who was originally cast in the role of the interviewer), it's too bad he can't straighten himself out in his personal life. He really needs to clean up the rest of his act. The minor scrapes have turned into major ones. The drug use and violence problems persist. After spending some time in the LA County Correction facilities, Christian seems to have cleaned up his act. He finished up "SideMan" on Broadway last February and is taking time off to be a father. Rumors of another Broadway stint are in the air, we hear. Look for him next in The Contender, a thriller with Gary Oldman, Jeff Bridges and Mariel Hemingway.

Latest News:

• Christian is currently in Toronto filming Chris Ver Wiel's comedy Cletis Tout also with Tim Allen and Sarah Michelle Gellar among others.
• John Woo has signed on Christian for his next film, Windwalker, a WWII drama about a group of soldiers guarding a group of Navajos assigned to transmit and decipher code in their rare language during the war. Production begin in August in Hawaii.
